CTYO's ensembles provide an enriching opportunity for young people with varying levels of ability, expertise and interest. Through their involvement and diligent engagement in these orchestras, young musicians are provided a valuable opportunity to learn music and learn
through music. Thus, the CTYO ensembles provide a balanced approach for musical and artistic growth, where listening is as important as playing, and where there is a consistent focus on helping each student enjoy their responsibilities toward building a collaborative community with their section, their orchestra, and the entire CTYO organization.
With a mission of enriching lives through music for young people and their families, and serving communities throughout the North Texas area,
CTYO is neither an alternative to nor a substitute for school music programs. CTYO expects that student participants will be enrolled in the appropriate and applicable music and arts programs in their schools and will study with a private teacher on their instrument. Members of CTYO's most select ensemble, Cypress, are expected to be in good standing and leaders in their school orchestra program.
